On May 14, Yerevan hosted ceremonial opening of the 2nd International Comics Festival, organized by ApbdA French company under the aegis of RA Ministry of Culture.
Among others, International Comics Association Ambassador Barbara Canepa and Angouleme Comics High School board member Dominique Bertail were invited to participate.
In their greeting speech, ApbdA chairman Jean Mardikian and RA Culture Minister Hasmik Poghosyan gave high assessment to Armenia’s increased interest to the art of comics, expressing hope for further expansion of the initiative.
Italian artist Paolo Cossi’s works, drawing on Armenian Genocide, became one of festival highlights. “I chose comics as an accessible method of expression to raise Genocide awareness worldwide,” the artist emphasized.
Special master classes, seminars and contests will be held within festival framework.
